Updated: 17:14, 02/08/2021
The Party, State and people appreciate and highly value the contributions, sacrifices and efforts made by those working on the front line against Covid-19, especially the medical staff, emphasised Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in a letter of encouragement to the frontline workers.

In his letter, the Government leader stated that following Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s call for concerted effort against Covid-19 on July 29, the entire Party, people and army are making every effort with strong determination to prevent and repel the pandemic.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visits and gives encouragement to medical workers at Ho Chi Minh City-based Cho Ray Hospital on May 13, 2021.

He wrote that during the past 500 days, Covid-19 has been a measure of the resilient spirit, mutual support, and patriotism of the whole nation. Under the leadership of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, the leaders of the Party and State and the entire political system, as well as the consensus of the whole people and businesses, the fight against the pandemic in the country has achieved positive initial results although difficulties and challenges still lie ahead.

As the Covid-19 pandemic has seen increasingly complicated developments over the past 500 days, we have to fight against the virus like fighting against a “dangerous and invisible enemy”, he stated.

Although the pandemic has developed in a very complicated and unpredictable way, causing many difficulties and hardships over the past 500 days, it cannot discourage the spirit of the frontline workers who are always willing to work for their fellow countrymen and fatherland when necessary.

He praised medical workers, soldiers, and police forces who have worked day and night in the Covid-19 prevention and control. He also commended journalists and volunteers who have headed to the pandemic-hit areas despite the potential safety risks.

As the pandemic is predicted to witness more complicated and unpredictable developments and the Covid-19 fight has been identified as a long and arduous battle, he called on the frontline workers to stay firm and enthusiastic at work.

He expressed his belief that with greater resilience, higher determination, stronger efforts, more drastic action, synchronous and comprehensive solutions, and the unanimous support of the people and businesses, Vietnam will definitely win the fight against Covid-19.

While wishing the frontline workers health and happiness, he stressed that the Party, State and people are always by their side to encourage them to fulfil their tasks in a manner deserving of the Party, State and people’s trust.
