Choosing the right objects

According to the statistics in 2017, the province is home to 42,700 poor households, taking 9.5 percent. In line with supporting policies of the State, a number of families with special difficulties need sharing of the community. Currently, some units implement the programme of “Each organization and individual plays as a humanitarian address”, thereby mobilizing huge resources to provide regular support to the unfortunate persons.

The provincial Red Cross Society opens the “humanitarian box” at the provincial General Hospital.

The movement of “Each organization and individual plays as a humanitarian address” launched by the provincial Red Cross Society (RCS) is a good example. The RCS directed the local cadres to pioneer in all humanitarian activities, close to the localities and seize the living conditions of each poor family, orange agent victim, unfortunate persons with serious diseases and orphans.

Then, the information will be checked, classified and established profiles for supervision and suggestion of appropriate support. According to Le Thi Duyen, Vice Chairwoman of the provincial RCS, responding to the letter of the provincial Party Committee Secretary Bui Van Hai in October 2017, the movement of “Each organization and individual play as a humanitarian address” has received donations of 28 organizations, enterprises and donors with the total fund of 5.5 billion VND (235,880 USD). 

Thanks to the programme, 1,900 especially disadvantaged families in 10 districts and city of Bac Giang province have been given emergency gifts and regular support.

Sun Flower Voluntary Club, Bac Giang branch implements the model of “Meals of humanity” at the provincial Tumour Hospital.

Besides, a number of humanitarian clubs and groups mobilize funds and support based on the chosen addresses but they have adopted new methods of calling for donations. For example, the “Heart connection” club chooses the cases in need of supporting to write posts calling for donations on social networks. Since 2016, the club’s members called the donors to help 7 families with special difficulties to build new houses with a total fund of some 160 million VND (6,860 USD).

Practical supports

An Khanh Thermoelectricity JSC, one of the companies having dramatic contributions to social welfare activities, provides monthly support to 20 especially disadvantaged households in Luc Nam district, each worth 500,000 VND (21.4 USD).

Ly Thi Hoa (born in 1969) at Xuan Phong hamlet, Chu Dien commune is a disabled person without working capacity; hence, his family faces extreme economic difficulty. More terribly, her husband, the only shoulder for her and her children passed away in an accident in 2017. Thanks to the introduction of the provincial RCS, her family’s humanitarian address received the support of the donor. The donation of 500,000 VND (21.4 USD) and 20 kilos of rice per month is the most meaningful gift for her in increasing difficulties.

With the facilitation from the Women’s Union of Dai Thanh commune, Hiep Hoa district, Nguyen Thi Bay’s family (born in 1967) could reduce difficulties. As a single mum suffering mental disease, she faces a lot of disadvantages. Fortunately, she is accompanied by the women at the village and commune on her path of life. In addition to the gifts like cook, electric fan and gas stove for living needs, she has received 2 million VND (85.7 USD) by the communal women’s union to buy pig breeds for livestock development.

There are many cases of disadvantaged persons need sharing of the community at the commune. The most meaningful supporting method is to directly give gifts to the poor. Le Thi Duyen said the political system at all levels, sectors and localities need to pay more attention to propaganda and calling for organizations, individuals and enterprises to register for supporting humanitarian addresses in a stable way helping especially disadvantaged persons to overcome their difficulties.

Bac Giang city launches Action Month for the Poor

(BGO) – The Fatherland Front’s Committee in Bac Giang city on October 9 launched the Action Month for the Poor, lasting from October 17 to November 18 when all organizations, agencies and enterprises are appealed to join hand to help the poor and families with special difficult circumstances to improve their living standard.
