The programme was first organized in 2016. Since then, it has been held annually at the beginning of the new school year to encourage children in difficult circumstances to continue schooling.

In her opening speech, Loi emphasized that in recent years, the programme has received the regular attention and support from hundreds of organizations and individuals through many forms such as giving patronage, scholarships, bicycles, helmets and school supplies with a total value of more than 5 billion VND (207,680 USD) in both cash and kind.

With organizations and individuals joining hands, in the past seven years, nearly 1,500 disadvantaged students have been supported to go to school. Many of them have achieved high academic results, passed university and college entrance exams, won the title of excellent student and high prizes in competitions for excellent students at district, provincial and national levels. Some, after graduating from university, have obtained stable jobs, becoming useful citizens.

This year, the Organizing Committee continued to receive the attention and companionship of 35 agencies, units, businesses, and benefactors who donated money and kind with a total value of more than 600 million VND (24,950 USD).

From the donated money, the Organizing Committee decided to present scholarships worth from 1 million VND to 12 million VND and meaningful gifts including helmets, bicycles, school supplies, computers, milk, candy... for 205 poor students with high academic results. Among them, 38 received scholarships worth more than 100 million VND in total from Asian Hope, a fund-raising organization in France.

At the programme, representatives Hanoi-based Love Connection Club sponsored three children namely Bui Van Hanh from the An Lac Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities in Son Dong district; Ngo Gia Bao from Voi Township Primary School in Lang Giang district; and Le Minh Hieu from the Tam Tien Primary School in Yen The district, each with 12 million VND per year.

Speaking at the event, APCR Vice Chairman Dung affirmed that the programme is attracting more and more organizations and individuals, with the number of children receiving scholarships, transport means, and school supplies increasing year-on-year. He said he hopes that the programme will continue to be implemented in the following years.

In the coming time, the Vietnam Association of Protection of Child Rights and the APCR will continue coordination with units to organize more practical and effective activities, drawing more businesses, organizations and individuals who join hands to support and motivate children to overcome difficulties and excel in their study.
