Promoting production development, striving to fulfill all yearly targets
Evaluating the socio-economic situation in the first half of the year, Trinh Huu Thang, Director of the provincial Department of Planning and Investment, said that the province’s six-month economy maintained a continuous growth, reaching 15.78 percent, ranking fourth among 63 provinces and cities nationwide.

The province's regional gross domestic product (GRDP (according to the current prices) was estimated at 48.95 trillion VND (2.1 billion USD), reaching 48.3 percent of the plan. The economic structure continued to shift strongly with industry - construction accounting for 56.1 percent, up 5 percent; services making up 26.2 percent, down 1.6 percent; agro-forestry-fishery occupying 17.7 percent, down 3.4 percent.
In the socio-cultural field, the whole province continued to focus resources on investing in building school facilities; the rate of solid classrooms reached 88.5 percent; 661 schools met national standards, or 85.6 percent.
The people's lives were basically stable. The policies for people who rendered services to the nation and those to ensure social security were fully realized. Defence and security have been implemented comprehensively. Traffic accidents decreased.
Discussing at the meeting, Duong Thanh Tung, Director of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that due to the impacts of weather and diseases, agricultural production, especially pig raising, was damaged. In order to compensate for this, the agricultural sector asked localities to focus on producing the summer-autumn crop, taking care of and expanding the area of citrus trees such as orange and grapefruit.
Concluding the event, Lai Thanh Son agreed with the ideas raised at the meeting and mentioned some shortcomings that need to be fixed. It is forecast that there will be many new and unpredictable developments in the socio-economic situation in the second half of the year. Especially the agro-forestry-fishery sector is predicted to continue facing numerous challenges due to the impacts of weather, natural disasters and epidemics.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee asked departments, agencies, districts and cities to focus on carrying out key tasks and solutions, including making efforts to overcome and remove difficulties and promoting production and business development, striving to exceed the economic growth target set for 2019.

It is necessary to continue implementing economic restructuring in combination with development model renovation, while improving the business investment environment; mobilizing and effectively using resources for infrastructure construction, thus creating motivation for development; and stepping up State budget collection.
The units and localities should accelerate the implementation of key projects associated with disbursement of public investment capital; and providing quick and timely support for investors, especially for approved investment projects; and improving the efficiency of management of natural resources and minerals, and environmental protection.
They also need to continue doing well the prevention and control of epidemics in plants and animals, and shifting the production structure to limit damage, and boosting the comprehensive development in social and cultural fields; improving the quality of human resources, creating jobs and ensuring social security. It is necessary to well implement administrative reform and administration building; and ensure national defence and security.
