Purchasing power increases 10 percent during Tet

Updated: 09:25, 23/02/2018
According to the Ministry of Finance, the purchasing power during Tet holiday surged by 12-15% compared to normal days, and 10% against the same period last year, as a result of 2017’s noted economic growth and market stabilization policy.

According to the ministry, supermarkets and commercial centers attracted a large number of consumers during the festival thanks to clear product origins, guaranteed food hygiene and stable prices.

Meanwhile, prices of catering and vehicle parking services slightly increased in the first days of the year.

However, the ministry said that demands for traveling, food and festival offerings are expected to rise following the holiday.

To stabilize the market in March and the second quarter of this year, the ministry has asked other ministries, agencies and localities to keep a close watch on developments of supply and demand, as well as prices, especially those of essential goods and services.

In addition to this, inspections on the observance of legal regulations on price, tax and fee, particularly of tourism services and traffic laws, will also be intensified.
