San Diu ethnic man gets rich in barren land
After graduating from Vietnam Korea Vocational College of Technology (VK-Tech) in 2015, Doan did not apply to work in any company but followed his own path in the hometown. Acknowledging the high revenue earned by growing the citrus trees, he encouraged the family to develop this tree.

To have capital for production, Doan boldly applied for a loan of 100 million VND (4,300 USD) from the district Social Policy Bank (SPB) and grew 1,000 yellow flesh orange on his 1 ha orchard.
The first harvest came not as expected with small fruits, bad appearance, low quality and quantity after only one year due to the lack of experience. Doan further encouraged the whole family to borrow more 150 million VND (6,400 USD) from the relatives and district SPB to revamp the orchard.
Besides, he actively researched, studied, applied the technologies and summarized the cultivation experiences to gain the best result. Thanks to the bold and high determination, non-stop study and enthusiasm support from family and SPB, the 2016 harvest brought him first success.

The orchards were laden with big oranges with good appearance that yielded some 20 tonnes of fruits, helping his family earn over 300 million VND (nearly 13,000 USD).
The market resiliency made him forecast the development potential of the fruit then bought 3 hectares of land in Cai Vang village, Dong Hung commune (Luc Nam district) to grow 2,500 trees more in 2017.
After 2 years, it now comes to a promising pumper harvest of some 60 tonnes of oranges with estimated interest of over 600 million VND (25,890 USD). Doan not only enriches himself and his family but also creates stable jobs to several local labors with monthly salary of 4-4.5 million VND (172 – 194 USD).
According to the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in Thanh Hai commune Vu The Phong, Diep Van Doan is not only an ethnic youth who is good at economic production but also a typical example in every activities and movements of the village and commune.

He always actively participates in the activities launched by the Youth Union and other Association as well as the charity work to support the policy beneficial families and impoverished students.
With his gained experiences, he is ready to share and help the youth members with passion, aspiration and start-up idea to enrich on the homeland. Diep Van Doan has proved for a bright model for the ethnic youth to follow, helping boost up the economic development movement in the locality and enhance the living standard for the locals.
Acknowledging the contributions, Diep Van Doan was honored by the district and provincial Youth Union as the outstanding youth model for good economic development in the province in 2019.
