Commemorate great contribution of national hero

Showing respect and commemoration for the great contribution of national hero Hoang Hoa Tham and Yen The insurgent army, Yen The district Party Committee, authority and people solemnly held the first Yen The Festival on March 16, 1984 to mark 100 anniversary of Yen The Uprising.

Since then, Yen The Festival is annual organized in three days from March 15 – 17 with solemn rituals, several cultural and sport activities, various folk games that attract numerous locals and visitors near and far.

The Festival helps show the morality of “Drinking water, remembering its source” as well as the tribute of nowadays generation to the god, national contributors, soldiers, farmer army who sacrificed themselves for the nation and faithful adhered to national hero Hoang Hoa Tham.

Yen The Festival is held to promote the solidarity tradition, patriotism spirit, independence and wake up national pride which converges traditional and modern cultural values with different and diverse cultural identities to affirm the unique features of the peoples in Yen The district in particular and Bac Giang province in general toward integration and development, helping preserve and tap the ethnic cultural identities.

To preserve and develop the Festival value, the Minister of Culture, Sport and Tourism inked Decision No.5079/QD-BVHTTDL on December 27, 2012 to recognize the festival as National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Thoroughly preparing for 2022 Festival

In 2022, implementing the Central and provincial direction, Yen The district only held ritual part of Yen The Festival to mark 138 anniversary of Yen The Uprising (1884 – 2022) to ensure safety for Covid-19 prevention and control as well as protect people’s health.

Accordingly, the rituals of sacral, incense offering and release ceremony were held on March 15, 2022 afternoon at Hoang Hoa Tham historical relic site in Phon Xuong town, Yen The district.

To successfully organize the rituals, the district People’s Committee issued plans and prepared specific programmes to organize 2022 Yen The Festival while establishing Organization Board with clear task assignment.

Particularly, the Center of Culture and Information consulted the district People’s Committee to issue direction to communes and towns so as to organize the rituals solemnly and appropriately. The festive part was excluded in all localities to well implement Covid-19 preventive measures.

The district Center of Culture, Information and Sport announced guidance to communes and towns about communication on grass roots broadcasting systems, decoration at local festivals via panel, flag, banner…on the routes of district center, Hoang Hoa Tham historical relic site while making agenda for incense offering ceremony at The temple, sacral ritual at Hoang Hoa Tham monument and release ceremony on March 15, 2022 afternoon as well as opening the relic site to welcome visitors.

In Phon Xuong town, major destination of the festival, the town People’s Committee highly focused on decorating the urban area, calling on people to raise awareness about preserving and developing the value of the relic, cooperating with the district Center of Culture, Information and Sport, Division of Economy and Infrastructure to repair the facilities of the relic site to serve the Festival.

15th “Red Spring” festival collects 8,600 blood units

More than 8,600 units of blood have been collected nationwide during the 15th Xuan Hong (Red Spring) festival , 7,000 units higher than the set plan.
