Spreading the spirit of mutual support

(BGO) - After 17 years, the campaign “Day for the Poor” and “Month for the Poor” launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee has become a deep humanitarian programme that is spreading in the community. Mobilized resources have been used to present gifts and support house construction and production, thus highlighting the nation’s traditions of solidarity and mutual support.

The community joins hands in supporting the poor

According to the Bac Giang provincial Fatherland Front Committee, from October 2017 to September 30, 2018, the whole province raised over 63 billion VND (2.7 million USD) for the Fund for the Poor and the social welfare programme.

Thanks to that, more than 57,400 Tet gifts were given to the poor. The fatherland fronts at all levels have paid attention to supporting poor households in building and repairing 816 houses worth over 16 billion VND. 

In order to achieve such results, the Standing Board of the provincial Fatherland Front Committee has devised plans and launched the Day for the Poor and the Month for the Poor to all departments, businesses and localities in the province, calling on members of member organizations and people to actively support the campaign.

Between October 2017 and September 30, 2018, the fatherland fronts at all levels and member organizations raised over 63 billion VND for the Fund for the Poor and the social welfare program me; presented more than 57, 4 00 gifts to the poor on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2018; and assisted poor households in building and repairing 816 houses worth over 16 billion VND.

As a member unit, the provincial Red Cross Society has collaborated with the fatherland fronts at all levels to carry out charity activities and provide medical examination and treatment for the poor.

According to Ma Thi Thin Nga, Chairwoman of the provincial Red Cross Society, due to disadvantages in terms of income and awareness, poor people’s access to health services is limited. To support them, since 2010, each year, the Red Cross Societies at all levels, in coordination with many medical establishments in and outside the province, have held more than 50 health examinations and consultations, and provided free medicine for about 10,000 poor, disabled and elderly people.

Helping poor people have a stable life

Tran Cong Thang, President of the provincial Fatherland Front Committee, said that with the goal of "No one is left behind", the province aims to raise 45 billion VND (1.93 million USD) for the Fund for the Poor 2018 and the social welfare programme 2019. 

This year's campaign is themed "Finishing the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in 2019". The province is striving to complete the repair and construction of about 450 houses and hand over them to the needy before the Lunar New Year 2019. “People often say that ‘To live and work in peace and contentment’ so having a solid home is the first thing that the poor need to rise up in life, "Thang stressed.

In many localities, the movement to support the building of the "Great Unity" houses has been implemented by the fatherland fronts at all levels, unions and organizations. Hiep Hoa is one of the districts appreciated for the campaign’s outcomes.

Representatives of agencies, units and enterprises support the Fund for the Poor launched by the provincial Fatherland Front Committee.

Recently, the district mobilization board for the Fund for the Poor presented 20 million VND to the family of Nguyen Thi Loan (born in 1958) in Tan Ket village, Duc Thang commune to build a house. The condition of her family is very difficult. Her health is not good but she has to take care of her daughter and grandchildren who are often sick, with expensive treatment costs. Her house seriously degrades but she has no money to repair it.

For the campaign to achieve high results, the fatherland fronts at all levels in the province will continue to coordinate with agencies and member organizations to further promote communication work and attract the attention of local people, including those living and learning in other localities in the country and abroad. In particular, they will try to mobilize maximum resources to complete the goal of eliminating about 450 temporary and dilapidated houses for handover to the needy families before the Lunar New Year 2019.

(BGO) – The Secretary Board of Youth Federation’s Committee in the northern province of Bac Giang cooperated with the provincial Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (Youth Union) to hold a walk event of “Youth for the community” on the morning of October 14 to call for donation to the youth and teenagers with special difficult circumstances in response to Action Month for the Poor in 2018.

(BGO) – The Labor Federation in the northern province of Bac Giang has recently held a programme to present gifts to the disadvantaged members of the trade union in Binh Nguyen Garment Company Limited in Bich Son commune (Viet Yen district) within the framework of welfare programme for the trade unionists.
 
“Dream on the wings” fund helps poor children go to school
(BGO) – In 2018, the “Dream on the wings” fund for poor children has successfully brought together kind hearts to help disadvantaged children go to school and make their dreams come true. 
 
Nearly 400 million VND donated to “Dream on the wings” programme for Bac Giang’s poor children
(BGO) – As of August 31, the Organization Board of the third “Dream on the wings” programme for the disadvantaged children in the northern province of Bac Giang in 2018 has received 395.8 million VND (over 16,900 USD) from the kind-hearted organizations, agencies and philanthropists, including 315.8 million VND (over 13,500 USD) in cash and several gifts of bicycles, books, notebooks and bag among others.
