Ban is living with her over 80-year old parents- in- law. She and her husband have 3 children. Their eldest son suffers from congenital immunodeficiency when this 11-year old boy looks like a child of 5. Her whole family lives on some acres of fields thus they face economic constraints. They have to borrow money to manage the medical expenses when their son goes into hospital.
Understanding her situation, the communal women’s union has mobilized the union members to give gifts and food to her family while suggesting the district women’s union and the communal party committee pay attention to and support them.
Son Dong district is the most advantaged locality in the province with 108 especially difficult villages and hamlets. Many women’s families in the ethnic minority areas face numerous difficulties and shortages.
In order to share and care for the living of the women’s unionists, the district women’s union has collaborated with the sponsors to organize “Tet gathering- the spring of love with ethnic minority women in 2024” programme in Tuan Dao commune.
The provincial Women’s Union directed its grassroots-level unions to actively communicate and mobilize women’s unionists, organizations and kind-hearted people to help vulnerable people and launched the peak campaign to raise fund for needy members from recycled waste.
Based on the real situations, the women’s union has chosen suitable programmes and support methods to bring practical meanings to women’s unionists such as: implementing “Tet gathering- the spring of love” programme in all localities, presenting blankets and sponsorship to orphans and making banh chung for needy families.
On the occasion of the New Year of the Dragon 2024, the all-level women’s unions in the province have mobilized resources to give more than 8,100 gift packages to poor members, orphans and needy people.
Particularly, the provincial Women’s Union gave 3,100 gift packets and 600 blankets worth total 1.9 billion VND (77,662 USD) and the district-level and grassroots-level women’s unions presented nearly 5,000 gifts valued at nearly 2.5 billion VND (102,187 USD).
These supports helped vulnerable people to have a warmer and better equipped Tet which motivate and fuel them to overcome difficulties in life and welcome a happy new year.
