Tien Luc relic cluster recognised special national relic site
BAC GIANG- On April 16 (the 19th of the third lunar month), the people’s committee of Lang Giang district in northern province of Bac Giang organised a ceremony to receive the certificate ranking the relic cluster of Tien Luc communal house, temple and pagoda as special national relic site and launch Tien Luc festival in 2025.
The ceremony was attended by permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee (PPC) Mai Son and Deputy Director General of Cultural Heritage Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Since ancient time, Tien Luc has been a land of rich cultural and historical traditions. Particularly during the Le–Mac dynasty in the 17th to 18th centuries, the region enjoyed a time of prosperity with many spiritual and religious buildings.
The relic cluster including communal houses, temples, pagodas, and da huong (the ancient camphor tree) is an outstanding example.
This is an architectural and artistic complex featuring Phuc Quang pagoda, Tien Luc temple (also known as the temple of the Great Saint), Thuan Hoa and Vien Son communal houses. These structures are notable for their grand scale and impressive architecture, adorned with artistic and creative intricate carvings.

The 1,000- year old camphor tree is the most well-known here, which was granted a title by the 44th King Le Canh Hung (in 1783) as the biggest camphor tree nationwide.
For its outstanding cultural values and distinctive architectural artistry, the cluster of communal houses, temples, pagodas, and the ancient camphor tree in Tien Luc was ranked by the Ministry of Culture and Information as a national architectural and artistic type in 1989.
Tien Luc relic cluster was recognised as a provincial tourist site by Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee on 13 May 2020 and Tien Luc festival was listed as a national intangible heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on 12 January 2022.
The Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1473/QD-TTg dated 26 November 2024 on ranking special national heritage sites including the complex of communal houses, temples, and pagodas in Tien Luc commune, Lang Giang district, Bac Giang province.
Tien Luc Festival embodies the essence of village civilization, reflecting the community solidarity and love for the homeland. Held annually during three days, from the 18th to the 20th of the third lunar month, the festival draws a large number of local residents and visitors from near and far.
Speaking at the event, PPC permanent Vice Chairman Mai Son extended warm congratulations to the party committee, government and people of Lang Giang district and Tien Luc commune.
He stressed the recognition of Tien Luc relic cluster of communal houses, temples, and pagodas as a special national relic site by the Prime Minister is not only a great honor, but also a profound responsibility for the local authorities and people in preserving and promoting the value of this cultural heritage.

At the ceremony, Nong Quoc Thanh announced the decision of the Prime Minister on ranking Tien Luc relic cluster of communal houses, temples, and pagodas as a special national relic site.
PPC permanent Vice Chairman Mai Son was authorized by Prime Minister to give the certificate recognising the special national relic site to Lang Giang district and Tien Luc commune.
Previously, Tien Luc commune held a traditional procession from the hamlets, followed by special vibrant cultural performances, folk games, and various sports competitions, drawing enthusiastic participation from the local community.
