Vice President Thinh said that the protection, care for and education of children is always a priority of the Party and State. Vietnam was the first country in Asia and the second country in the world to ratify the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1990. The NFVC and the Vietnamese children’s fund system at all levels were born in May 1992, contributing to increasing the resources for the protection, care for and education of children.

Since its inception, the NFVC has mobilized nearly VND6.5 trillion to provide support to 30 million children in living difficult circumstances. In 2018 alone, the Fund has raised over VND100 billion to care for 80,000 children through various programmes and projects.

However, there are still 1.5 million disadvantaged children and nearly 2.5 million others are at risk of falling out of school. Therefore, in 2019, the Fund will strive to mobilize VND110 billion and is set to support 110,000 disadvantaged children.

To achieve that goal, the NFVC needs joint support from the business community and donors, so that all children in Vietnam will be able to receive care, education and entertainment, Vice President Thinh stated.

At the event, businesses signed a grant agreement with the NFVC to donate a total amount of nearly VND80 billion to the fund.
