Viet Yen invests in relic restoration together with tourism development

(BGO) – Viet Yen district (Bac Giang province) has paid due attention to restoring and promoting the value of historic and cultural relic sites in the area for recent 5 years, especially since implementing the Resolution No.44 of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Plan No.102 of the provincial People’s Committee about developing tourism in Bac Giang province in the period 2016 – 2020.

23 relic sites in the district have been restored and upgraded with total investment of over 121 billion VND (5.2 million USD) mobilized from the state budget and socialization source. The highlights in the local general tourism map feature national special relic Bo Da pagoda; Tho Ha pagoda, temple and communal house in Van Ha commune; Mo Tho temple in Minh Duc commune...

Viet Yen district has focused on preserving and promoting the value of Quan ho folk song.

The district People’s Committee has recently executed several projects relating to the area close to Bo Da pagoda such as building the temple to worship Thach Linh Than Tuong with total investment of over 8 billion VND (345,022 USD) and the Management Office of the relic site; revamping and upgrading the campus of Bo Da pagoda with total cost of nearly 6 billion VND (258,766 USD). Besides, many cultural and historic relic sites have been restored with timely schedule.

Particularly, the temple worshiping cultural celebrity Doctor Than Nhan Trung is basically completed. It was commenced in 2016 with several main items of temple, monument, ceremony yard, stele building, tower, pond...with total investment of 53 billion VND (2.28 million USD).

According to Dao Trong Ca, Head of the Division of Culture and Information in Viet Yen district, the local authority has proceeded formalities to upgrade Tho Ha pagoda to national special relic site by 2021. The district People’s Committee has arranged initial expense of over 20 billion VND (862,556 USD) to restore Tho Ha pagoda.

Meanwhile, the restoration project for national relic of temple worshiping Han Duke Than Cong Tai is invested over 31 billion VND (1.3 million USD) and expected to complete within this year.

At the same time, the traffic infrastructures linking several relic and tourism sites have been invested to revamp and upgrade with total cost of hundreds of billion VND such as the route to connect the national road No.37 to Bo Da pagoda (total length of 5.4km); the route Nenh – Bo Da- Van Ha; the lake road in Bich Dong town to Dong Long in Quang Minh commune...

In the future tourism development trend, Viet Yen district defines the advantage of spiritual tourism attaching to traditional craft village with the highlight of National Special Relic Bo Da pagoda.

The district decided to invest in the site to be an attractive destination after Bo Da pagoda was recognized as provincial tourism site in late 2019, the Buddhist wood blocks in Lam Te Zen Sect was recognized as national treasure and several records for the biggest tower garden in Vietnam and the oldest Buddhist wood blocks in Lam Te Zen Sect.

The district People’s Committee has built the draft Project to draw investment in developing Bo Da pagoda tourism attaching to the system of ancient village and craft villages (Van and Tho Ha) as well as preserving and promoting the value of Quan ho folk song.

According to Vice Chairman of the district People’s Committee Nguyen Dai Luong, an investor has conducted a survey and made feasibility study of Northern ancient village adjacent to Bo Da pagoda covering 35ha. The investor proposed to reenact the model of ancient village with old wooden houses, village well, orchard, entertainment places themed countryside in Northern delta to serve tourists.

The district People’s Committee has called for investment project to Tho Ha ancient village with several items of Quan ho preservation and performance area, float village on Cau river, traditional market while upgrading Tho Ha, Dinh Van and Ha Lat ports to link to the local tourism attractions so as to develop the spiritual tourism in Bo Da pagoda, ancient village and craft villages in Van Ha commune.
