Viet Yen launches traditional Quan Ho singing exchange

BAC GIANG - As part of a series of activities to mark the 60th Anniversary of Uncle Ho's visit and direction of the 1st Ha Bac Provincial Party Congress (October 17, 1963 - October 17, 2023), the male and female vocalists on both sides of the Cau River (belongs to Bac Giang and Bac Ninh provinces) have recently organized a traditional Quan Ho (love duet) singing performance at the campus of the special national relic site Bo Da Pagoda in Tien Son commune.

It attracted a large number of guests, visitors and Quan Ho lovers.

The event was performed in three stages of singing, including the opening, the second and the third stage, each specific verse had its own melody.

The male and female vocalists perform traditional Quan ho at Bo Da pagoda.

The singers must memorize hundreds of ancient Quan ho verses together with a meticulous training process. They were not only trained to perform the love duet folk song gently, to linger, bounce their voices and release sentences and words smoothly, all behaved elegantly as the qualities of Quan Ho people.

The smooth and loving melodies performed by artisans, male and female vocalists helped tourists and Quan ho lovers better understand the origin, cultural customs and traditions, the rules of a traditional quan ho singing on both banks of the Cau River.

At the same time, the event offered participants chance to exchange and improve the knowledge then spread the love of Quan Ho folk songs to the public. Thereby, it contributes to preserving and developing Quan Ho culture sustainably, fostering the patriotism via the folk melodies.
