Bo Da pagoda was located on the sacred land in Bo Da mountain range which was closely attached to the legend of a woodcutter and Guan Yin (Bodhisattva or Goddess of Compassion).

The pagoda consists of Tu An pagoda, Tam Duc temple, Cao pagoda, Tower garden and Mieu pond. Bo Da pagoda was recognized as national special relic site for its oustanding artistic architecture and history. The pagoda houses the most ancient Sutra woodblocks engraved by the Lam Te Zen Buddhism which was recongized as the national treasure as well as the biggest Tower garden in Vietnam.

Bo Da festival, a national intangible cultural heritage annually takes place from lunar February 15 – 18. It has been organized in district level since 2000. The festival also commemorates the death anniversary of the pagoda founder.

The festival is an indispensable cultural and spiritual activity of people in Kinh Bac region which is well known to tourists near and far. It is an opportunity for Viet Yen district to promote local unique image, land, people and cultural heritage.

The festival features 2023 Quan ho folk singing festival in Viet Yen district where there are 18 ancient Quan ho villages recognized by UNESCO and 22 artisans honored as the People’s Artisan and Meritorious Artisan by the President. The district has 50 Quan ho singing clubs and 120 Quan ho villages.

On the occasion, the festival organizer honored the Quan ho artisans and handed over souvenir flags to 45 clubs participating in this year festival.

Besides, the festival featured various activities like exhibition of craft village product, farm produce; assistance to install citizen identification software and create account for online public service among others.
