300,000 tourist arrivals flock to Vinh Nghiem pagoda festival
Vinh Nghiem pagoda festival was held on the 12th, 13th and 14th days of lunar February. This year, the festival organized at weekend with fine weather and numerous activities lured a large number of visitors. It was reported to welcome about 300,000 arrivals to worship, pray and attend the festival, doubling the expected number.

According to Nguyen Huu Hung, permanent Vice Chairman of the people’s committee of Yen Dung district, Head of the Organizing Board of Vinh Nghiem pagoda festival, the festival in 2023 had some new features.
Firstly, the festival was organized at larger scale with more guests. Secondly, the art program to kick off the festival featured the Buddhist Emperor Tran Nhan Tong’s pilgrim journey in Vinh Nghiem pagoda, Truc Lam Zen Sect in Tran dynasty and its spreading in social life based on “Cu Tran lac dao” philosophy.

The organizing board arranged pavilions for the communes and towns to showcase their typical and signature products, images and materials of the history and development process of the communes and towns, achievements in socio-economic and cultural development of the localities.
Specially, the provincial traditional wrestling championships, Yen Dung district’s expanded tug of war competition and art exchange programmes also took place during the festival. Besides, many folk games such as pot breaking, blind man’s buff and bag jumping were held at the festival. In addition, the Buddhism preaching section at the festival attracted a large number of visitors.
