Vietnam airports among world's most connected
Southern hub Tan Son Nhat leaped up three places from the last ranking in 2019 to the 40th position, while its sister in the northern capital jumped 15 places to 46th, OAG reported after an analysis of flight data from the 100 largest airports in the world.

The rankings were compiled by comparing the number of scheduled connections to and from international flights with the number of destinations served by the airport.
This year, OAG started releasing the full ranking to "provide essential insights into how flight connectivity has returned across the world's largest airports post pandemic."
London Heathrow has retained its status as the world’s most internationally connected airport, followed by the U.S.’s John F. Kennedy in New York and the Netherlands’ Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
Tan Son Nhat airport has been serving 36 million passengers a year since 2017, or nearly 100,000 a day on average, exceeding its designed capacity of 25 million a year.
Noi Bai, Vietnam's second busiest airport, also has a capacity of 25 million passengers per year.
In recent years, the government has improved the quality of its services at Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai to reduce wait times.
Last month, Noi Bai was named among the world's 20 best airports for wait times by vacation rental company Casago. The Hanoi airport was the only Vietnamese representative on the list, which was based on reviews passengers posted to airlinequality.com.
