In the AFC article, Vietnam U23s were one of the most mentioned teams in the 2018 tournament. It was also the first magical journey of Vietnamese football under coach Park Hang-seo, and also marks the beginning of Vietnam’s consecutive following feats over the last two successful years.
Therefore, AFC said that Vietnamese football has grown from their feat in China last year, thereby becoming one of the heavyweights to compete for the championship title in the tournament to be held in Thailand early next year.
Vietnamese football has changed a lot under the hands of coach Park Hang-seo to grab more success. “Vietnam, meanwhile, have gone from strength to strength since, winning the 2018 ASEAN Football Federation Championship and reaching the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 quarter-finals,” AFC wrote.
Therefore, the continental largest football management body said that, along with defending champions Uzbekistan, Vietnam under the guidance of Park “will consider themselves strong candidates to win the AFC U23 Championship Thailand 2020 and, with it, advance to the Tokyo Olympics later in the year.”
After nearly two years, the players who were part of the historic feat in Changzhou have experienced many successes in various tournaments with Park.
