Vietnam welcomes over 5.96 million foreign tourists in four months
In April alone, the number of foreign holidaymakers was estimated at over 1.46 million, up 4.2 percent against March 2019 and 9.5 percent against April 2018.

Growth was reported in most of the markets, including Thailand (up 46.5 percent), Indonesia (up 29.1 percent), Taiwan (up 25 percent), the Philippines (up 24.4 percent), the Republic of Korea (up 23.2 percent), Malaysia (up 15.7 percent), Denmark and Switzerland (up 12.1 percent both), Norway (up 11 percent), and Italy (up 10.5 percent).
However, there were reductions in the number of tourists from Cambodia (down 45.4 percent), Laos (down 18.9 percent), Finland (down 10.5 percent), China (down 3.8 percent), and Australia (down 0.3 percent).
The tourism sector will implement programmes to promote Vietnam’s tourism in key and potential markets such as China, the Republic of Korea, ASEAN, Japan, and Europe.
Vietnam will also attend international tourism fairs such as the Beijing International Tourism Expo in China, Hanatour in the Republic of Korea, and World Travel Market in the UK.
During the reviewed time, the country served 31.5 million domestic vacationers. The tourism sector grossed over 227.7 trillion VND (9.8 billion USD) in revenues, an annual increase of 8.91 percent.
Vietnam aims to serve about 18 million foreign visitors and 85 million domestic ones in 2019, and earn more than 700 trillion VND (30.2 billion USD) from tourism, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
