The Vietnamese athletes produced a spectacular sprint in the last 40 metres to finish second with a time of 7:14.52, 9.02 seconds behind the gold medalists from China and 4.5 seconds faster than the bronze medal winners from the host delegation.

It was the second medal won by Vietnamese rowers in this year’s Asiad, following a historic gold medal secured in the women’s lightweight quadruple sculls event on August 23.

Ngo Huu Vuong brought home the second bronze medal for Vietnam’s shooting team in Indonesia after beating the Republic of Korea’s Cho Sejong with a score of 6-1 in the third place match.

Another RoK marksman, Jeong Youjin, took the top honor of this category following his 6-4 victory over Pak Myong Won from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

Today proved to be a sad day for Vietnam’s badminton team, as the country’s top two shuttlers, Nguyen Tien Minh and Pham Cao Cuong, had to bid an early farewell to their Asiad campaign following their 0-2 defeats against Chinese Taipei opponents, Wang Tzuwei and Chou Tienchen, respectively.

As of 6pm on August 24, Vietnam temporarily stood at 16th place in the medal tally with one gold, five silvers and nine bronzes.
