Vietnamese singer Chi Pu competes in top Chinese TV show

Vietnamese singer Chi Pu is one of 33 contestants competing in the fourth season of Chinese reality show “Sisters Who Make Waves.”

On Friday noon, the Chinese reality show released the music video for its fourth season’s theme song, which features the celebrity contestants.

Chi Pu, 30, appeared in the video wearing a red dress and singing in Chinese. Other veteran celebrities competing in this season of the show include Taiwanese singer Ella from the band S.H.E, Chinese actress-singer Jenny Zhang, Hong Kong actress Ada Choi and Taiwanese actress Alyssa Chia.

The spokesperson of Chi Pu's agency revealed that the Vietnamese singer was one of six foreign contestants to compete in the fourth season of the program.

The show sent their invitation to Chi Pu through a Thai agency. Chi Pu's crew then spent one month researching the show before accepting.

Chi Pu is currently in Hunan, China, to practice and film for the show. She opened an account on Weibo, the top social media platform in China, on which she presents herself as a Vietnamese actress and singer.

Starting in 2020, "Sisters Who Make Waves" is a reality show produced by Mango TV, in which female celebrities over 30 compete against each other to debut in a seven-member girl group. The show won the Best Reality Show award at the 2020 Douyin Entertainment Awards.

Chi Pu is a renowned Vietnamese pop singer and actress. She was honored among Forbes’ list of Asia Pacific's 100 most influential digital stars in 2020.
