The pump as turbine, under the KaWATeach project, was implemented by the Vietnam Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources, and Germany’s Institute for Water and River Basin Management Department of Aquatic Environmental Engineering.
The Federal Republic of Germany funded EUR2.5 million for the investigation, survey, scientific research and training, design and manufacturing of PAT machines. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Science and Technology allocated nearly VND9 billion (over US$388,617) for the investigation, survey, scientific research and procurement of materials to construct pressure piping systems.
In addition, Ha Giang Provincial People’s Committee reciprocated over VND60 billion (nearly US$2.6 million) to upgrade technical infrastructure for the installation of water supply system under the PAT technology.
After five years of implementation, the project has achieved important results, including the pumping of 1,600 cubic metres per day to the peak of Ma U mountain (600 metres high) to supply water to the whole of Dong Van Town and the surrounding areas.
