Warm affectionate Tet Festival to connect kind heart with impoverished children

Responding to the campaign of “Tet for the poor” launched by the provincial Fatherland Front Committee, the event was co-organized by Bac Giang Newspaper and the Bac Giang provincial Association of Protection for Children’s Rights on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year 2018, attracting numerous sponsors as well as the kind-hearted people in and outside the province.
Particularly, the programme was attended by Le Anh Duong, Vice Chairman of the Bac Giang provincial People’s Committee and leaders of several provincial departments, sectors, agencies and many children under difficult cases.
Addressing the event, the Editor – in – chief of Bac Giang Newspaper Trinh Van Anh expressed that with the functionality and obligation, the journalists of the newspaper and staff of other agencies protecting for the local children’s rights have visited many regions and witnessed several miserable lives. Therefore, we deeply understand the children’ need for the humanitarian protection from the community.

Participating in the programme, people further clarified the special circumstances of some excellent children born with diseases or whose parents passed away too early. Typically, Duong Thi Minh Anh, a 12-grade student in Phuong Son highschool (Luc Nam) actually moved all the guests when she appeared on the stage with the help of the wood crutches and a volunteer. Due to the serious disease, her father passed away when Minh Anh was three year old only. Her mother got married and she was taken care up by the grandparents. Then the grandparents were deceased, she is living with her uncle.

Unfortunately, Minh Anh got a serious traffic accident on her way home from school with the broken leg, traumatic brain injury, and 70% of health decrease in November 2017. Witnessing her innocent face and groping steps, many people burst into
Le Thanh Trung, an owner of Pia cake store chain in Hoang Mai district (Hanoi) emotionally said: “We will employ Minh Anh to work at one of our stores” and presented one million VND (44 USD) to her.
Also in the event, 150 other students were presented cash and materials like winter blanket, confectionary, new shoes ahead of the Lunar New Year. Among them, 45 were awarded the scholarship, each worth one million VND mobilized from Vu A Dinh Fund of Thieu Nien Tien Phong Newspaper and Nhi Dong Newspaper as well as the “Dream on the wings” fund of Bac Giang Newspaper and the provincial Association of Protection for children’s right.

The children had a chance to enjoy themselves in the joyful atmosphere with the art performances by students of Vo Thi Sau primary school (Bac Giang province). Hoang Cong Hoa, a three grader in Quynh Son primary school shared: “I will try to study more so as to deserve the current love and care from the community”.
