Winners of National Book Awards honoured
The event was attended by Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Communications and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia; and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam.

Two A-grade prizes went to the book “Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies” written by Jared Diamond and translated by Tran Tien Cao Dang from The Gioi (World) Publishers in collaboration with Vietnam Omega Book Joint Stock Company); and “Chang hoang da – Gau” (Wild Change – Bear) written by Trang Nguyen and drawn by Jeet Zdung (Kim Dong Publishing House).
In addition, the organising board presented nine B-grade and 19 C-grade prizes to other outstanding works.
Speaking at the ceremony, Party official Nguyen Trong Nghia affirmed that the books which received awards contained elaborate scientific research work with high scientific, social and practical value, significantly contributing to the development of reading culture in particular and the country in general.
He also asked the publishing sector to continue innovating and creating more favourable conditions to encourage development towards international integration.
The organisers received the participation of 47 publishing houses nationwide with 365 titles, covering areas such as politics and economics; natural science and technology; social sciences and humanities; culture, literature and arts; and children.
