Work begins on VND5 trillion My Thuan 2 Bridge

The Ministry of Transport and the People’s Committees of Vinh Long and Tien Giang provinces held a ceremony on August 19 to commence the construction of the My Thuan 2 Bridge with a total investment of over VND5 trillion (US$216.4 million).

Located 350m upstream of the existing My Thuan Bridge, the My Thuan 2 Bridge will start from the An Thai Trung intersection with the Trung Luong-My Thuan Expressway in Tien Giang province’s Cai Be district and end at an intersection with National Highway 80, on the My Thuan-Can Tho Expressway in Vinh Long city.

At the ceremony to commence the construction of the My Thuan 2 Bridge.

The project has a total length of 6.6km including 4.7km of approach roads and nearly 2km of the main bridge. The six-lane bridge has a designated speed limit of 100km per hour.

Investment for the project was sourced from the State budget and the bridge is expected to connect the two expressways of Trung Luong – My Thuan and My Thuan - Can Tho in order to form a complete traffic network from Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho.

Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Nhat said that the project is expected to shorten travel and trade time between areas in the Mekong Delta region while ensuring safe traffic by separating automobiles from other vehicles, contributing to a reduction in traffic accidents.

The project is scheduled for completion in 2023.

(BGO) – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DoFA) has coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCMCYU) in Bac Giang province and the People’s Committee in Luc Nam district to call for the non-refundable aid from the Embassy of Japan to build the bridge on Mong port in Luc Son commune, Luc Nam district.
