Youth Union and Canon Vietnam hand over “Lighting up the countryside” project
After one month execution, the 4km road under the project in Village 6, Viet Tien commune was completed. The commune has finished the new rural target since 2015.

The project aims to help the localities in completion of the infrastructure to serve the locals’ life. Canon supports the expense to equip the light bulbs and electric wires while the youth union members joined hands to the installation.
So far this year, Canon has sponsored over 300 million VND (12,800 USD) to cover 12 kilometres in 4 beneficiary localities in Bac Giang province, including Hop Thinh commune (Hiep Hoa district), An Duong commune (Tan Yen district), Phuong Son commune (Luc Nam district) and Viet Tien commune (Viet Yen district).

On the occasion, Canon and the provincial Youth Union summed up 10 year coordination in voluntary implementation in Bac Giang province. Since 2009, two sides have built and installed 39 km of lighting systems in 33 villages of 6 districts of Viet Yen, Tan Yen, Hiep Hoa, Luc Nam, Lang Giang and Yen Dung.
Besides, many programmes have been co-organised to visit and present gifts, provide free health examination to excellent students living in poor families, present Tet gifts to disadvantaged children and households.
Canon has launched the programme “Canon accompanies students to the school”, presenting over 1,500 bicycles to students in 54 schools in order to help the impoverished students with excellent academic achievement who do not have means of transportation.
Implementing the environmental protection programme, two sides conducted the communication campaigns at 6 primary schools, presented 1,373 gift packages, growing 3.5 km of youth flower road in Hiep Hoa district.

Meanwhile, Canon organised two vocational orientation events to more than 2,000 students and gifted 500 books to the libraries at Luc Ngan No.3 senior high school (Luc Ngan district) and Nha Nam senior high school (Tan Yen district) in April and May 2019.
In the future, Canon will continue coordinating with the provincial Youth Union to hold activities for the community such as communicating for environmental protection, supporting the lighting up the countryside programme, equipping more children's entertainment places at the cultural houses in the villages and residential groups.
