2022 National Tourism Year officially kicks off

The opening ceremony of the 2022 National Tourism Year is one of the important events marking Vietnam's reopening of tourism and the highlight of the 2022 National Tourism Year programme.

The remark was made by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the opening ceremony of the 2022 National Tourism Year, with the theme "Quang Nam Province - Green tourism destination”, which took place in the ancient town of Hoi An - a World Cultural Heritage, on the evening of March 26.

Along with the opening ceremony, a series of tourism events throughout the year is expected to be an important lever and opportunity for the tourism industry to create a breakthrough and realise the goal of attracting domestic and foreign tourists. The events promise to make an important contribution to the rapid recovery and sustainable socio-economic development of the country, promoting the image of a beautiful country and gentle and friendly Vietnamese people to international friends.

The Prime Minister said that Quang Nam is a land of convergence and interplay of many economic, cultural and historical values from Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Cham Pa, and Sa Huynh civilizations and cultures, and the hometown of famous people such as Hoang Dieu, Phan Chau Trinh, Huynh Thuc Khang; a land rich in cultural traditions and revolutionary history.

Quang Nam has a lot of potential for tourism development, especially "green tourism", "heritage tourism" with great attraction from the World Cultural Heritage (Hoi An Ancient Town and My Son Sanctuary), Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (Bai Choi singing), and Cu Lao Cham World Biosphere Reserve. Along with that is the system of cultural heritages, relic sites, rich flora and fauna, and distinctive culinary features of Quang Nam.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that ministries, branches, Quang Nam Province and localities across the country should continue to promote the achieved achievements while making efforts to overcome difficulties, challenges and limitations.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh praised the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam Province and localities for making great efforts to carry out tourism promotion activities and programmes in recent times.

Previously, in Hoi An City (Quang Nam), the People's Committee of Quang Nam Province coordinated with Nha Dau Tu (Investor) Magazine to organise a seminar titled "Quang Nam develops green tourism - Preservation of indigenous values" as well as a ceremony to announce "Quang Nam Green Tourism Criteria", one of 10 events in the series of activities to welcome the National Tourism Year - Quang Nam 2022.
