To date, 17 out of 17 communes in Viet Yen district have achieved the standard recognition that is a crucial basis for the locality to be the first-ever new rural district in the province.

Currently, the local authority has completed 6 out of 9 district-level criteria while striving to realize the remaining ones such as zoning off the district, building 2 concentrated areas of commodity agriculture production (with scale of 50 hectare at least) and removing the craft village of Phuc Lam (Hoang Ninh commune) and winemaking village of Van Ha out of the list of seriously polluted area.
As the schedule, the provincial Steering Board will verify and finalize the proposal recognizing the qualified Viet Yen district then submit to the Central Steering Board of building new-style rural area.
