Named VAVAPlus, the app includes photos, stories and reports on AO victims as well as their information and addresses so that supporters can make donations to them.

The VAVAPlus app is available for installation at http://vavainfo.vn.

There are also stories honouring collectives and individuals who have made contributions to helping the victims.

A digital marketplace is built on the app where AO victims and their families can post products for sale in order to create a sustainable livelihood while helping them connect with both domestic and foreign traders.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, VAVA President, Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Van Rinh called on benefactors both at home and abroad to continue showing their spiritual and financial support for AO victims via the app in order to help them overcome their difficulties and integrate well into the community.

He also expressed his hope that press agencies popularise the app to help it reach the public.

Approximately VND80 million was raised via the app by participating organisations, individuals and delegates at the event.

US delegation visits dioxin detoxification project in Da Nang

An aid from Taipei’s Rotary Club was presented to the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin (VAVA)’s Ba Ria-Vung Tau province chapter on July 26.

Social protection centre for AO/dioxin victims upgraded

A ceremony was held on January 15 to mark the completion of a project to upgrade the Vietnam social protection centre for Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin victims in Hanoi’s suburban district of Thach That district.

New centre to be built to support medical treatment for dioxin victims

The National Steering Committee for Settlement of Post-war Unexploded Ordnance and Toxic Chemical Consequences plans to build a centre providing medical support for victims of toxic chemicals including dioxin during the period from 2018 to 2020. 

An Agent Orange victim born with a silver brush in his mouth

Le Minh Chau was born with stunted limbs that are almost non-functional, but the artist in him could not be denied. Armed with just basic art training, the 28-year-old artist who uses his mouth to paint is self-taught. Chau, subject of the Oscar-nominated "Chau, Beyond the Lines" movie, has been inspiration for many disabled people.
