Runner Nguyen Thi Oanh broke the women’s 5,000 m national record last year, along with winning multiple gold medals at the national championship. She came second in the votes for Vietnamese Athlete of the Year organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. In the upcoming SEA Games 31 in Vietnam this May, Oanh will be the biggest gold medal hope of Vietnamese track and field.

The third athlete on the list is boxer Nguyen Thi Thu Nhi. Last year, she became the first Vietnamese boxer ever to lift a mini-flyweight WBO World belt after beating Japanese opponent Tada Etsuko in South Korea.
