Nguyen Thi Oanh wins three golds at national athletics championship
The tourney drew 380 athletes from 42 delegations to compete at 50 categories, including 24 for men, 24 for women and two for medley relays.

13 athletes (eight men and five women) from Bac Giang delegation joined the event at various categories of 800m, 1,500m, 5,000m, 10,000m and 3,000m steeplechase.
Nguyen Thi Oanh excellently won three gold medals at three individual contents of 1,500m, 5,000m and 3,000m steeplechase. She also registered to compete at 10,000 m run but the health problem forced her to withdraw in the last minute. With this achievement, Oanh successfully protected three out of four golds at her competed categories in 2020.
Particularly, star runner set a new record in the 5,000 m race of the championship when crossing the finish line after 15 minutes and 53.48 seconds. This is a new national record, breaking the previous one by Doan Nu Truc Van in 2003, who finished her run in 16 minutes and 12.73 seconds.
With stable manner and impressive achievements, Nguyen Thi Oanh is the hope of Vietnam athletics at SEA Games 31 to be held in May 2022 in Hanoi.
