Vietnamese students win five medals at International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics
This is the highest achievement of the Vietnamese team to the IOAA.
Accordingly, Nguyen Khanh Tam and Tran Dinh Dung both took gold medals. Meanwhile, Nguyen Manh Duc won a silver medal, and Le Duc An and Dinh Tran Hai Chien were awarded the bronze medals. All of them are 12th graders from Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.

The 14th IOAA was held virtually from November 14 – November 21, drawing 60 teams from 50 countries and territories worldwide.
The International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) is an annual competition for high school students. It is one of the international science Olympiads.
The main goal of the IOAA is to promote the growing interest in astronomy and related STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) subjects, especially through the general education of young people, while enhancing the development of international contacts among different countries in promoting astronomy and astrophysics in schools.
The first IOAA was held in Chiang Mai, Thailand, in November 2007.
Vietnam first attended the IOAA in 2016, during which the team pocketed one silver medal and four consolation prizes.
