Implementing Program No. 01-CTr/TU dated September 10, 2020 "on developing Bac Giang City towards a green - smart urban area during 2020-2025 and the following years" of the City Party Committee, the municipal People's Committee issued action programs and plans to promote urban development in the area.

Since the beginning of this year, the city has set a goal of striving to complete 2-3 criteria for building a green and smart city. Through review, the basic criteria have been completed. Of which, the criterion on the average green space per capita of the city reached 18 square meters per person, exceeding the plan.

Particularly in 2024, from the budget, the city has built and renovated trees on 10 roads, 40 parks, campuses, playgrounds and traffic intersections among others. The city is also developing software to manage tree data, helping authorities monitor and track the growth, development and relocation of trees then analyze and make better tree planting.

Regarding the target of building a security camera surveillance system, Bac Giang City currently has more than 300 security cameras and traffic surveillance cameras that automatically detect violations.

These days, groups of workers are rushing to complete the final tasks at the construction site of the Bac Giang City Funeral Home in My Do Ward. The completion and operation of the funeral home will help people in the city, especially residents living in apartment buildings, have a modern and spacious place to hold funerals for the deceased.

At the same time, it will contribute to building a civilized lifestyle, protecting the city's environment and completing the criteria of a green and smart city.

According to the Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister in Decision 369/QD-TTg dated May 4, 2024, Bac Giang City is identified as a dynamic urban area, an important economic center of the region; a green, smart, modern and civilized urban area; a trading center, a logistics center and a center for goods transit.

Based on approved planning projects, the city focuses on mobilizing and effectively using resources to invest, renovate and upgrade urban infrastructure in a modern direction.

Total capital mobilization for social development in 3 years (2021, 2022, 2023) reached about 74 trillion VND (over 3.1 billion USD). Currently, the city's traffic infrastructure is basically synchronized, many key projects such as: A Lu Bridge, Minh Khai overpass, Tran Quang Khai overpass... have been completed, helping increase regional connectivity.

The urban space is more and more expanded. The city is implementing more than 100 new urban, housing and residential area projects with a total area of ​​about 1,100 hectares, contributing to facilitating planning work, building urban infrastructure management software, integrating into the Smart City Operation Center (IOC) of the city.

From January 1, 2025, Resolution 1191, dated September 28, 2024 of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units of Bac Giang province during 2023 - 2025 will take effect. Accordingly, Yen Dung district will be merged into Bac Giang city. This is a favorable condition for building a green and smart city.

Bac Giang builds new rural area associated with urban development

Bac Giang meets criteria for second tier urban area under Bac Giang province

BAC GIANG - On July 31, the Prime Minister issued a Decision to recognize that Bac Giang urban area meets criteria for second tier urban area under Bac Giang province. Accordingly, the recognized second tier Bac Giang urban area in Bac Giang province includes the entire administrative boundary of the existing Bac Giang city and the existing Yen Dung district, covering an area of 258.30 square kilometers, including 34 commune-level administrative units.  

Ministry of Construction recognizes fourth tier Chu urban area
