Bac Giang continues promotion of cultural heritages

(BGO)- Vice Chairman of Bac Giang provincial People’s Committee Le Anh Duong hosted a meeting with a press delegation organized by the National Commission for UNESCO and the Ministry of Information and Communication on 10 September at the People’s Committee of Viet Yen district.

The press delegation includes 28 journalists and writers from Central press agencies such as VOV, VTV, Nhan Dan Newspaper, Vietnamnet.

At the meeting, the journalists, writers and representatives of the provincial competent agencies and Viet Yen district discussed some issues related to tourism development program particularly orientation for heritage preservation, time to launch the cable car system, spring festival and tourism promotion plan of Tay Yen Tu Tourism Complex, investment attraction in Dong Cao tourist attraction, Son Dong district and impact of building new-style rural areas in Viet Yen district on preservation of the cultural heritage.

Addressing the meeting, Le Anh Duong stressed, Bac Giang is home to over 700 ranked relic sites including 101 national ones and 03 special national relics. So far, the province has implemented a number of solutions for cultural protection such as the inventory of relics and cultural heritages with digitizing; planning and localizing the protection zones and establishing management boards of the relics.

In addition, he shared some difficulties facing the province such as the limited fund for the preservation of the cultural relics and stolen antiques. In the coming time, the province continues to spend resources for upgrading and preservation of the relics while maintaining the original values.

During the working visit in Bac Giang, the press delegation will pay field visits to Vinh Nghiem pagoda in Yen Dung district, 1000-year-old camphor tree in Lang Giang district, Bo Da pagoda in Viet Yen district and Tay Yen Tu Tourism Complex in Son Dong district.

Vietnam announces 8 more national intangible cultural heritages
Vietnam has announced eight additional national intangible cultural heritage under the Decision No.3325/DD-BVHTTDL, recently signed by Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien. 
 
First national intangible cultural heritage festival to be held
The first national intangible cultural heritage festival will take place simultaneously with the Tuyen Quang City Festival in the northern mountainous province of Tuyen Quang from September 20-23. 
 
Precious trees recognized as heritage
The Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment (VACNE) has recognised a group of 400 Po Mu (Fokienia hodginsii) trees in the forest of mountainous Tay Giang district in Quang Nam province as Heritage Trees.
