Bac Giang creates good impression on international journalists covering SEA Games 31

(BGO) – In the first organization of regional competition, apart from nearly 200 coaches, athletes, supervisors…from eight countries in Southeast Asian region, the northern province of Bac Giang also welcomes many international journalists covering the 30st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31). When staying in the province, they had amazing experiences in addition to warm and thorough reception from local organizer.

Photographer Kelly Wang of Singapore National Olympic Committee used to cover many tournaments in regional countries but it was his first time at SEA Games in Vietnam. His team has 10 members who keep travelling consecutively among four host provinces in Vietnam, including badminton in Bac Giang.

“Language difference may be the most difficulties to communicate with sports delegates, local organizers and people. Luckily, local Organizer for badminton in Bac Giang arranges volunteers who are good in English to support us all the time. Besides, they provide us pick up service and proper accommodation places so that we can closely follow the assigned event,” said Kelly Wang.

He also shared about time pressure due to the participation of world champion Loh Kean Yew of Singapore at the Games. He and team members must report the event immediately to serve the competitiveness of news agents at homeland. Without the active and thorough assistance from local organizer, Kelly said his team could not complete the task.

Coming to Bac Giang, not only Kelly Wang but also many other foreign reporters shared the common felling about the thoroughness of local organizer in preparing working condition for them, especially arranging press room with sufficient computers and highspeed internet, establishing press support group to timely instruct and handle any arising issue.

Nafielah Mammudah Chusnul is impressed by the exciting cheering atmosphere in Bac Giang at the event.

Reporter Nafielah Mammudah Chusnul from online newsagent PBDJarm in Jakarta capital of Indonesia told she knew that Vietnam is one of the countries severely suffering from Covid-19 pandemic, including Bac Giang province. However, the preparation task was carefully done in the province.

“I feel so exciting cheering atmosphere from Bac Giang local people via big size panels and slogans everywhere. In the first visit to Bac Giang, just a small province in Vietnam, I am surprised at your nice gymnasium with unique architecture, sufficient functional room and equipment serving international sport event. Particularly, I am impressed at local spectators. They really love badminton. In some matches, the 4,500 seat gymnasium were full. Just the same as in our country, people love badminton. Maybe we call it Asian game,” she said.

Coming to Bac Giang, the international journalists were organized to stay at Muong Thanh and Sojo Bac Giang Hotels. Apart from arranging convenient and comfort rooms, local Organizer requested hotel to prepare diverse and attractive menu with several foreign dishes to create familiar atmosphere for reporters.

Badminton at SEA Games 31 draws many international and domestic reporters.

Together with warm reception, many journalists from the Philippines, Lao, Cambodia and Thailand were impressed by the security forces who kept watching over everywhere. Though thousands of spectators flocked to Bac Giang gymnasium, the safeguard and volunteers were always friendly and enthusiasm in supporting task.

SEA Games 31, a big and important sport event in the region and the world was held in Vietnam after long suspension due to Covid-19 pandemic. It is a good chance to enhance the exchanges among regional countries, popularize and promote good image of Vietnamese land and people to international friends.

To realize the target, local Organizer for Badminton at the Games arranged some provincial tours for international delegations, especially reporters to meet, discuss and exchange working experiences to Vietnamese colleagues as well as discover more about Bac Giang province with many traditional cultural identities.
