For more than one year of concentrated implementation, Viet Yen district has so far completed 7 out of 15 criteria in line with the Resolution and fulfilled 70 percent of 5 criteria. 3 remaining ones will be completed before 2025.

An overview of the meeting.

The key tasks have been highly focused to develop Viet Yen city, particularly proceeding formalities to recognize the city is the first priority. Currently, the district is gathering people’s comment for the Scheme to establish Viet Yen city in Bac Giang province as well as the wards in the new city.

Concluding the meeting, PPC Chairman Le Anh Duong highly spoke of recent achievement of the district in implementing Resolution 162. He specified delayed progress in some criteria.

In the upcoming time, to bring Viet Yen district become a city on schedule, the provincial leader urged the district to complete the procedures and formalities, submit them to the authority for recognition.

The number one priority for the district was to accelerate the master planning progress, prepare planning conditions to zone off communes to be wards in future, urgently complete the land using plan while speeding up the construction progress of major facilities like park, sport hall and urban decoration.

Local authority was ordered to further improve several criteria of urban, city and standard for wards in association with building advanced new style rural area. More attention would be paid to luring investment, especially projects in the fields of service and commerce, social house, educational and medical service among others.

The PPC Chairman requested the district to expedite and accelerate the implementation schedule of residential projects and land clearance for infrastructure projects.

Local authority also needs to focus on building the Scheme, implementing it and approving the district to be city and 9 communes to be ward. High concentration should be made in leadership, direction, communication so as to create great consensus among the officials and people as the driving force to early turning Viet Yen district to city.

Viet Yen, a township in expectation

(BGO)- For me, there is one Viet Yen in my memory and one at present. The memory is not so long because the first time I came to the land of Quan ho in the north of Cau River just nearly 10 years ago. I have returned here recently and realized Quan ho melodies are still as sweet as before but Viet Yen district looks like a township- a township in expectation.

(BGO)- The provincial People’s Committee of Bac Giang province has decided to approve the investment project to build a large-scale inland clearance depot and logistics services area in Viet Yen district. This is a potential project to boost economic investment, transportation and logistic service in the locality.

(BGO) - The mud ball wrestling festival is held in Yen Vien village, Van Ha commune (Viet Yen district, Bac Giang province) on the 12th, 13th and 14th days of the fourth lunar month (May 12, 13 and 14) featuring many unique events. With special identities, it has been recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
