I remember the first time I visited Viet Yen when I was accompanied by Dao Trong Ca, deputy head of culture and information division of Viet Yen district, a famous Quan ho singer. I was informed that the district was home to 80 Quan ho singing groups. Quan ho playing custom has been maintained from year to year, decade to decade and century to century to be recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of the human being.

At whatever stature it is, I think Viet Yen’s special cultural features will be never faded. The core traditional values have deeply imprinted in this land. On the journey ahead with numerous changes and social fluctuations where the agricultural district has changed into an industrial and service locality, a foundation for the district to become a fourth-tier urban area in the near future, the unique cultural future from the past will be preserved and respected.

At this field trip, we visited Than Nhan Trung’s temple first, then we came to Nenh town. When Viet Yen district becomes a township, Nenh will certainly become one of the new urban centers.

Chairman of the people’s committee of Nenh town Do Van Luan told us the advantages and difficulties facing the locality when the district is recognized a township in 2024 (one year head the schedule). He shared, when Viet Yen becomes a township, the population of Nenh town will be larger and the land for education must reach 2.7 square metre per each person (the current rate is only 2 square metre) according to the required criteria. The rapid urbanization process requires compatible infrastructure, for instance, the wastewater gathering system must be well constructed for effective use.

This issue must be taken into good account for the near future Viet Yen township. To that end, Nenh town and other communes in the district must pay more attention to infrastructure development, security and order and continue to care for education and building modern and civilized livelihood in industrial parks and residential areas.

We had a talk to Tran Do Thao, head of the district’s division of home affairs to have a more comprehensive understanding about its progress to become a township. As Thao is a member of the steering committee for developing Viet Yen district into a township, he seizes all related information. Viet Yen district has met 4 out of 5 standards to become a township.

The journey to become a township of Viet Yen district is not very far. 2023 is a very important year for Viet Yen to be recognized a township in 2024. I believe Viet Yen township in the northern bank of Cau River will be very beautiful, lively and dynamic. The township of Quan ho folk songs and industrial development will be a liveable destination for many people. As well, I have heard about Bac Giang as a liveable land by numerous people.

Unique mud ball wrestling festival in Viet Yen ready for visitors

(BGO) - The mud ball wrestling festival is held in Yen Vien village, Van Ha commune (Viet Yen district, Bac Giang province) on the 12th, 13th and 14th days of the fourth lunar month (May 12, 13 and 14) featuring many unique events. With special identities, it has been recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Viet Yen develops many hi-tech farming areas

(BGO) – This year, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) in Bac Giang province has focused on supporting Viet Yen district to review and expand hi-tech farming areas to serve industrial parks, clusters as well as local school canteens. It is among the tasks to assist the district to become city by 2025.

PPC Chairman Le Anh Duong directs to timely remove obstacles in building IP and traffic infrastructure in Viet Yen district

(BGO)- Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee (PPC) Le Anh Duong on March 31 inspected land clearance for the province’s key projects in Viet Yen district including the project on construction investment and trading infrastructure of Vietnam-Korea and Quang Chau industrial parks (IP), provincial road 298 and Nhu Nguyen bridge.
