“ICD, commercial, logistic service and urban area of Sen ho port” project to level up future Viet Yen town

(BGO)- The provincial People’s Committee of Bac Giang province has decided to approve the investment project to build a large-scale inland clearance depot and logistics services area in Viet Yen district. This is a potential project to boost economic investment, transportation and logistic service in the locality.

A 50-hectare project

The inland clearance depot (ICD) planning area is located in the administrative boundaries of 3 communes and township including Hong Thai, Quang Minh and Nenh.

The project is adjacent to Co River to the North (in Quang Minh and Hong Thai communes), the road 295B to the southwest, Hanoi-Lang Son railway to the east, national road No 37 to the northeast and provincial road No 298 to the west.

With its advantageous topography and ideal location, the project is promising to give big potentials for future Viet Yen town in economic growth and development of inland transportation, freight and logistics services with a modern inland clearance depot at national and regional levels.

The land area for making planning of the ICD project is about 49.58 hectares with a population of about 1,800 people.

Of which, the high-building commercial and service area will be located in the southwest, close to the provincial road No 295, which is possible to bring high economic value for the project. The logistic, container lot and warehouse area, a core function of the project, will be attached to the railway and main traffic road connecting to the National highway No 37, provincial road No 295, provincial road No 298 and belt road No 4 to ensure smooth transportation of goods of the international multimodal rail station.

The ICD urban area will be located in the northeast, close to the National Highway No 37 with sufficient social infrastructure system such as park, public facilities, schools and sports playgrounds meeting residential demand.

The inland depot and logistic service area will be divided into different functional zones including the administrative zone, trade and service zone, inland depot zone, logistic zone, green tree campus, parking lot and traffic roads.

This is also the main functional division of the logistic area serving storage, transportation and distribution of goods in the region.

Vision and potential for development

In early 2022, Bac Giang received good news to be the first province of the country approved the provincial master plan for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 at the Prime Minister’s Decision No 219/QD-TTg.

According to the master plan, Bac Giang will strongly develop all resources to become a modern industrial province by 2030 with its GRDP scale in top 15 provinces and cities nationwide.

Of which, industry is defined the major driving force for sustainable and environmentally friendly development .

In order to develop as a key industrial area, the future Viet Yen town will support to form trade promotion centers and call for investment in high-tech, smart and green logistic centers to create linkage for fostering circulation of goods in the region. Besides, it is necessary to provide incentive policies to lure commodity from neighbouring countries and attract investment to the big industrial parks and processing zones to reach the national level.

Thus, the provincial decision to approve the investment project to build the ICD and logistic service area in Viet Yen district demonstrated the province’s planning and long-term vision for its key industrial area. Of which, the province attaches importance to developing diversified and modern services, especially some potential services with high competitiveness, contributing to upgrading Bac Giang into a center for circulation and transportation of goods, warehouse and logistic services and commerce of the region.
