(BGO) - Determining that transport infrastructure plays an important role to increase inter-regional connectivity, attract domestic and foreign investors, and promote rapid and sustainable economic growth, Bac Giang province has focused resources on a number of key projects. These days, a series of transport infrastructure works are urgently being upgraded and expanded in the locality.

Tran Tien Dung, Deputy General Director of Hanoi-based Thang Long Corporation - the contractor, said that currently, the unit mobilizes about 120 skilled workers and experienced technicians, together with special-use vehicles and machines.

In recent years, with the capital allocated by the province and the government, Bac Giang has invested 1.7-2 trillion VND (72.4-85.1 million USD) per year in building transport works. The districts and Bac Giang city have also poured from hundreds of billion dong to thousands of billion dong into upgrading transport infrastructure each year.

Similarly, the construction of a road and bridge connecting Hiep Hoa district with Pho Yen city of Thai Nguyen province (section from National Highway 37 to Hoa Son Bridge) is being accelerated. This project has a total investment of more than 540 billion VND (22.98 million USD) sourced from the provincial budget. Its total length is more than 10.5km, including 10km of road and 0.5km of bridge. Now the contractor has completed 55% of total workload.

Hoang The Hung, deputy head of the province’s transport and agricultural project management board - the investor, said once the bridge gets linked in June and is put into use in September this year, it will create favorable conditions to attract investment to industrial zones in Hiep Hoa district.

At the construction site of the Ha Bac 2 road and bridge project, connecting the branch route No.2 of Ring Road IV with Yen Phong Industrial Park and National Highway 18 in Bac Ninh province, hundreds of workers are busy working to complete the items for the bridge to get linked in early July. This project has a total investment of more than 358 billion VND (15.2 million USD) sourced from the central and provincial budgets. Ha Bac Bridge 2 will connect Viet Yen and Hiep Hoa districts with Yen Phong district in neighboring Bac Ninh province.

Of which, many key and essential projects serving inter-regional and inter-provincial connection have been upgraded and expanded to attract businesses to invest in the locality, especially in industrial zones and clusters.

Do Thi Lan, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Transport, said that in the coming time, based on the approved provincial master plan, the department will advise the provincial People's Committee to direct the implementation of projects to connect the transport networks in the province and region, especially in key economic areas; and implement the transport network development plan for the 2021- 2030 period, with a vision to 2050.
