Bac Giang gives top priority for nCoV prevention and control

(BGO) - Chairman of the People’s Committee of Bac Giang province Duong Van Thai, Head of the Steering Committee for prevention against the acute respiratory epidemic caused by the novel coronavirus (the Steering Committee) chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee and the assisting team on 5 February.

Vietnam has confirmed 10 patients infected with novel coronavirus as of 5 February. Bac Giang has reported 9 suspected cases, of which 5 have been tested negative for coronavirus and 4 are in quarantine pending test results.

According to the participants, all of the levels, sectors and localities have been paid high attention, closely supervised and monitored to promptly detect the suspected or infected cases who had visited the infected areas in China or met with the suspected.

Currently, about 4,000 laborers and women in Luc Ngan and Luc Nam who married to Chinese men returned Vietnam on Tet. They face high risk of infection especially a number of people from ethnic minorities lacking awareness of epidemic prevention.

The police and the localities have strengthened supervision on this group.

According the provincial Military Command, Bac Giang has an isolation place for foreigners coming to Vietnam from the infected areas. The military commands of the districts and city have arranged forces to support transportation and collect patients in case a large number of people get infection.

The Steering Committee voiced that apart from the positive performances, the health sector’s prevention has not taken initiative. Particularly, the Health Department was slowly to buy medicals and equipment for infection prevention. The products of medical masks and antiseptics have not met the market demands.

In his conclusion, the provincial Chairman Duong Van Thai stressed, on giving top priority to prevention, the levels, sectors and localities were required to fight the epidemic with better performance, more rapid and active implementation of the prevention plans. In which, they should supervise immigration of Chinese people and closely monitor health conditions of the people coming from Hubei province, China.

The provincial Industrial Zones Authority and Department of Health should closely collaborate with Bac Ninh province to supervise people living in Bac Ninh but working in Bac Giang.

The districts and city are required to allocate the budget for disease prevention, provide essential medical equipment and chemicals such as face masks.

In the context of lacking sanitized chemicals, the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development was requested to allocate preventive chemicals for livestock in the districts and city while sterilising in the public places, agencies, units and schools.

The Department of Education and Training should clean the schools and classrooms before 9 February for the students to come back school after the holiday and give special priority for prevention at pre-schools.

The Department of Health was required to consider rearrange the isolated treatment areas in the hospitals and medical centers ensuring safety, efficiency and avoid cross-contamination.

The public security force, market management and inspection authorities need to closely control the essential products for disease prevention.

Besides, it is necessary to publicize and alert the people about prevention methods, make daily and irregular reports and timely compliment the enterprises and individuals who raise high sense of responsibility for the community and share to overcome difficulties as combating this severe epidemic.

The entire province will focus on infection prevention, taking care of people’s health, gaining prestige in investment attraction and socio-economic development.
