Bac Giang, Hai Duong enhance development cooperation

Speaking at the conference, Thai emphasized that Bac Giang and Hai Duong are two neighboring provinces rich in the tradition of studiousness and revolutionary spirit. In the 60s of the last century, many people from Hai Hung (present-day Hung Yen and Hai Duong) moved to the Luc Ngan, Tan Yen, and Yen The regions of Bac Giang to settle down. Bac Giang lychee gardens have been formed and developed, becoming a famous specialty with great contributions of people from Hai Duong.
Realising the policy of the Party and State on strengthening cooperation to promote regional linkages, over the years, the two provinces have implemented many specific collaboration programs. They have jointly invested in the construction of Dong Viet Bridge connecting Bac Giang province’s Yen Dung district with Chi Linh city of Hai Duong province and roads leading to the bridge, opening up a new development space.

However, besides the achieved results, some programs have seen their results below expectations. Therefore, at this conference, the two sides discussed solutions for future implementation.
The delegates appreciated the cooperation results between Bac Giang and Hai Duong. To improve efficiency, the two localities need to consider promoting waterway, road and railway connections; exchange and share experience to help local people develop their economy through the establishment of an association of Hai Duong people in Bac Giang; build tourism chain; and develop high-tech agriculture.
In the coming time, the Standing Boards of the two provinces’ Party Committees will continue to promote coordination and cooperation for development in the period of 2023-2025, focusing on creating highlights for regional linkage such as accelarating the development of the transport system, coordinating in completing Dong Viet Bridge and the roads leading to the bridge, striving to inauguate them before September 2024.

Bac Giang province will invest in extending the branch route DT 293 to Vinh Nghiem Pagoda anad building a bridge over Luc Nam River connecting with Con Son - Kiep Bac road; while Hai Duong province will build the remaining section to Con Son - Kiep Bac road. Construction on these works is expected to start before 2025.
The two provinces will continue to work closely with Quang Ninh province to soon complete the scientific dossier of Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son and Kiep Bac relic and landscape complex to submit to UNESCO for recognition as a world heritage.
