Amid the complicated development of Covid-19 epidemic, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) continues instructing to apply the technical methods to prolong the harvest time, improve the lychee quality inline with VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards to meet the consumption demand for domestic market and export.

The DARD has coordinated with the Department of Industry and Trade to plan the lychee consumption promotion. Besides the traditional markets, the province prepared the plan to export to Japan while calling for enterprises to join the linkage of production and consumption.

To date, the province has collaborated with the Department of Plant Protection (DoPP) (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) and two businesses specialized at export activities (Chanh Thu and Ameil Company Limited) to select the cultivation area and list of participating households to conduct survey. The DoPP issued 10 codes for the growing area up to 50 hectares.

The province is now reviewing and urging DoPP to additionally grant 5 more codes with total area of 27 hectares to satisfy the demand of lychee export and local enterprises’ proposal.

Apart from the foreign market, in 2020, Bac Giang will expand the domestic consumption market via supermarkets, retail stores, distributors, wholesale markets at big cities, especially to the Southern provinces.

The province strives to sell 60 percent of the total lychee output at the domestic markets.
