Bac Giang increases transport connectivity to attract investment

Updated: 18:46, 07/12/2022
(BGO) - Many localities in Bac Giang province have prioritized resources for upgrading, renovating and building a number of roads to increase traffic connectivity and promote socio-economic development. The efforts are to implement Resolution No. 113-NQ/TU dated July 22, 2016 by the provincial Party Committee on transport infrastructure development in the 2016-2020 period, with orientations to 2030.

Upgrading many routes

In order to gradually improve the transport infrastructure system, in mid-April this year, Lang Giang district kicked off construction of a northern ring road - section from Kep township to the provincial road (DT) 292. The 10.2 km road, connecting Huong Son industrial cluster to the intersection with DT 292 and running through National Highway 1A, has a total investment of more than 278 billion VND (11.65 million USD) sourced from the district budget.

Package 5a of the project to build a road connecting National Highways 37 and 17 to DT 292 (Viet Yen district) was completed and put into use.

The asphalt concrete road has a 12m-wide foundation and a surface of 11m. It is constructed by a joint venture of contractors Bach Long Joint Stock Company, 179 Construction Joint Stock Company and Hai Long Construction Investment Joint Stock Company. These days, the contractors are mobilizing maximum human and material resources with the goal of completing the project on time.

Recently, Yen Dung district has focused on accelerating the progress of key transport infrastructure projects, including 10 roads. Typical among those is the project to renovate and upgrade the provincial road 398 - section from Dong Viet to Neo township (now Nham Bien township) and National Highway 17 - section from Kem culvert to Tien Phong. This project has a total investment of about 495 billion VND (20.7 million USD) sourced from the district budget.

Determining that transport plays an important role in promoting local socio-economic development, in the past two years, districts such as Luc Nam, Tan Yen, Viet Yen, Hiep Hoa and Luc Ngan have prioritized allocating resources from the local budget and other sources to invest in upgrading, renovating and building many large-scale transport routes.

According to incomplete statistics, since 2021, about 70 large-scale roads in the province have been upgraded, renovated and built with a total investment of trillions of billions of dong.

Focusing resources

In order to effectively implement Resolution No. 113, localities have focused on doing well the planning and auction of land use rights in order to increase budget revenue. They have prioritized allocating these resources to invest in building, upgrading and renovating large-scale essential transport works with regional and inter-regional connectivity to attract investment in key areas, industrial zones and clusters.

Tan Yen district is an example. Nguyen Thi Lan Huong, head of the district’s Finance and Planning Division, said that this year, about 1.1 trillion VND (46.1 million USD) of land use fees was collected, an increase of 700 billion VND compared to the previous year. With this revenue, the district invested about 400 billion VND in road construction.

From the revenue from land use fees last year, Lang Giang district has poured more than 1 trillion VND (41.9 million USD) to build roads...

In the implementation process, the districts base on new-style rural development programs and plans, and local socio-economic situation to propose appropriate measures to develop rural transport.

Thanks to investment resources and local budgets, the system of provincial and inter-commune roads in many districts has been upgraded and built. The complete transport system has contributed to increasing connectivity, creating momentum for local socio-economic development.
