Bac Giang invests in traffic infrastructure to promote connectivity, expand space for development

BAC GIANG- Many people who come to Bac Giang today are surprised at its strong changes especially in traffic infrastructure. The widen roads and fortified long bridges help to connect Bac Giang to the region, promote commercial exchange and create new space and driving force for development

The Ha Bac II bridge was completed by Bac Giang province a long time ago but the route in Bac Ninh province connected to the bridge has been recently finished and brought into use.

Ha Bac II bridge connecting Bac Giang and Bac Ninh has been completed and brought into use.

This is one of the important projects connecting Viet Yen township and Hiep Hoa district in Bac Giang province to Yen Phong district in Bac Ninh province.

The total investment of the project is over 358 billion VND (13.75 million USD) from the central and provincial budget. The strong bridge connecting the 2 banks of Cau river satisfies the expectation of local people.

The completion of this traffic route not only facilitates travelling of people in both provinces but it also opens more opportunities for economic development.

To date, there are 5 bridges connecting 2 northern provinces of Bac Ninh and Bac Giang. These bridges help to shorten the distance, tighten the economic flows and combine the special historical and cultural values of Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces.

The Ha Bac I bridge project connecting to Bac Ninh province was approved at an investment of about 1.7 trillion VND (65.3 million USD). The bridge will link the provincial road 298B in Bac Giang province with the provincial road 295C in Bac Ninh province, which is expected to be commenced in 2026 and completed in 2027.

Besides, Van Ha bridge connecting Van Ha commune (Viet Yen township) to Hoa Long ward (Bac Ninh city) is being constructed. The bridge is expected to have a length of 360 metres.

The leading paths to both ends of the bridge will be developed in accordance with the approved planning, ensuring compatibility with the bridge’s scale and connectivity with the regional transportation network. The total investment is estimated at around 240 billion VND (9.2 million USD).

Traffic infrastructure development is defined a key and prioritized task of Bac Giang province, which contributes to fostering its socio-economic development.

Thus, in recent years, Bac Giang has invested resources in a series of transportation projects, creating a breakthrough in development with many important and strategic routes.

These efforts have opened up new development spaces and transformed the appearance of the localities, contributing to the enhancement of intra-regional and inter-regional linkage.

Especially, the province has made breakthroughs in external transportation development thanks to its proactive collaboration with neighbouring provinces and cities to implement a series of important inter-provincial traffic connectivity projects.

Apart from connectivity projects with Bac Ninh province, Bac Giang has implemented a number of other projects such as building Hoa Son bridge and the leading paths, the road connecting the national highway No 37 to the national highway No 17 in Vo Nhai, linking Bac Giang with Thai Nguyen, Dong Viet bridge project connecting Bac Giang to Hai Duong , the road connecting My An port to the national highway No 31, linking Bac Giang with Lang Son and collaborating with Hanoi city to complete the Hanoi-Bac Giang expressway.

The road connecting the national highway No 37 to the national highway No 17 linking Yen The district with Vo Nhai district (Thai Nguyen province).

Besides, Bac Giang province has cooperated with Quang Ninh province to invest in the route connecting Son Dong district in Bac Giang province to Ha Long city in Quang Ninh province, which gradually realizes the goal to bring Bac Giang closer to the sea.

The provincial road network has been developed by building new routes and upgrading existing ones, with a total of 336 km (expected to be done by the end of 2025), exceeding by nearly 100 km against the set target.

The number of provincial roads has increased from 18 to 37 out 40 planned routes, while the total length has grown from 404.99 km to 893.17 km

In addition, Bac Giang province also attaches importance to developing traffic infrastructure in ethnic minority and mountainous areas to narrow down the regional disparities and promote the local economic growth.
