Official recognition of 99 commune-level administrative units in Bac Ninh province after merger
BAC GIANG– On June 16, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man signed Resolution No. 1658/NQ-UBTVQH15 detailing the restructuring of commune-level administrative units in Bac Ninh province following the merger of Bac Giang and Bac Ninh.
According to the resolution, Bac Ninh now has 99 commune-level administrative units, including 66 communes and 33 wards. Of these, 65 communes and 33 wards were newly established through the restructuring process, while one commune, Tuan Dao, remains unchanged.

The resolution calls on relevant authorities to urgently carry out necessary preparations to ensure that local governments in the newly formed commune-level units will officially begin operations on July 1, 2025.
Following the restructuring, Bac Ninh province will have a natural area of 4,718.6 square kilometers and a population of 3,619,433. The province is expected to become one of the country’s leading industrial hubs.
