Accordingly, Bac Giang province will spend some 481billion VND (18.37 million USD) from the provincial budget to improve the main route of the provincial road 291 and its branch route connecting to the provincial road 293.

The provincial road 291 runs across Tay Yen Ty town (Son Dong district).

The main route of the provincial road 291 is renovated and upgraded at a total length of about 8km starting at the intersection with the provincial road 293 in Tay Yen Tu town (Son Dong district) and ending at the Km25+00 in Dong Ri residential group, in the same town.

This route is invested following a grade 3 mountainous standards with a roadbed width of 9 metres, a surface width of 8 metres and an intersection with the provincial road 293 to ensure synchronized connectivity.

The branch road connecting the main route of the provincial road 291 with the provincial road 293 has a length of approximately 1.3 km. It starts at Km0+00, intersecting the provincial road 293 at Km71+950 in Tay Yen Tu town, and ending at Km1+300, intersecting provincial road 291 at Km17+810. The roadbed is 16m wide, and the road surface is 15 metres.

The construction items include the roadbed, road surface, water drainage system and traffic safety.

According to the competent authority, the provincial road 291 has a total length of around 27.4 km, of which the section from Yen Dinh commune to Tay Yen Tu town (km0+00 - Km17+980) was upgraded following the grade 3 mountainous standards and brought into use in early 2024.

Meanwhile, the section from Km16+980 (in Tay Yen Tu town) to Km25 (Son Dong Thermal Power Plant) is still a grade 4 mountainous road, which does not adequately meet the travel demands and requirements for economic development.

Facing this situation, the project is being implemented to gradually complete the transportation infrastructure in line with the masterplan, improve travel conditions, enhance transport capacity and strengthen regional and interprovincial connectivity, thereby facilitating trade between Bac Giang and Quang Ninh provinces.

Besides, it contributes to strengthening national defense and security, creates favorable conditions for socio-economic development and promotes regional tourism connectivity in the Yen Tu area.
