Bac Giang launches Action Month for the Poor in 2020

(BGO) – The Fatherland Front’s Committee (FFC) in Bac Giang province on October 10 held a meeting to launch the Action Month for the Poor in 2020 and Welfare Programme in 2021 under the chair of Tran Cong Thang, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board, Chairman of the provincial FFC and Head of provincial Steering Board for the Fund for the poor.  

From October 2019 to September 2020, the FFC at all levels and member organization called for donation of over 113 billion VND (4.8 million USD) to the Fund for the Poor, social welfare programme and Covid-19 prevention and control

The donated amount helped repair and build new houses, visit and present Tet gift, support poor and near poor households in production development, present gift to poor students with good academic result, organize humanitarian health examination and support Covid-19 prevention.

As schedule, the Action Month for the Poor in 2020 will take place from October 17 to November 18 with the target to raise 50 billion VND (2.1 million USD) donated to the Fund for the Poor in 2020 and Social Welfare Programme in 2021.

Concluding the event, FFC Chairman Tran Cong Thang expressed that the impact of Covid-19 pandemic caused several obstacles in business and production to the enterprises, hence the calling for donation encountered certain difficulties. To effectively implement the programme, he urged the active participation from the levels, sectors and local authorities to coordinate with the FFC and member organization to mobilize various resources in the community to care for the poor.

At the same time, the good implementation method should be widely communicated in fund raising and caring for the poor while closely managing the fund to use properly with right purpose and subjects so as to effectively implement the Campaign “All nation join hand for the poor – No one left behind”.
