Bac Giang mobilizes resources to preserve, expand cultural atmosphere of Quan Ho and Ca Tru

UNESCO officially recognised Quan Ho as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity and Ca Tru as the world intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent preservation in 2009. It is great honor for Bac Giang to have both of these heritages.
After 10 years since Quan Ho and Ca Tru were honored, Bac Giang province has paid due attention to preserving and promoting values of Quan Ho and Ca Tru. Thus, Quan Ho has widely developed and become a favorite type of folk music while Ca Tru assured its longevity and spread the values. Currently, the province is home to 84 Quan Ho clubs and 8 Ca Tru clubs operating in the 10 districts and city.

The participants stressed the roles of the folk music in society while clarifying achievements and shortcomings as well in preserving and promoting values of Quan Ho and Ca Tru in Bac Giang province.
According to Prof. PhD. Bui Quang Thanh, Bac Giang province should run the projects to survey and expand the cultural atmosphere of ancient love duet singing and carry out further researches in the areas believed to have Quan Ho singing in the past.
Regarding methods of preserving Ca Tru, Vu Hong Bang, former Director of the provincial Center for Culture and Cinema said, “each local should consider it as a regular task and bring Ca Tru into art activities of the public. Besides, it is necessary to organize annual classes, festivals and performances of Ca Tru”.

In the conclusion, Associate Professor Ph.D Dang Van Bai, Vice Chairman of the Cultural Heritage Association of Vietnam and Tran Minh Ha, Director of the Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism stressed, Bac Giang province has paid positive attention to preserving and promoting values of Quan Ho and Catru ensuring the commitment with UNESCO.
Over the past 10 years, Quan Ho and Ca Tru have performed the roles, positions and spreading in the society.

In order to continue promoting these models, it needs involvement of the entire community in which paying attention to building schemes to review and expand cultural atmosphere of these types of folk music.
In addition, it is necessary to well organize Quan Ho and Ca Tru teaching activities especially for the youth, heritage owners of the future, with the methods of opening classes or teaching in the families.
Besides, it is essential to expand the model of Quan Ho and Ca Tru clubs in the province in line with organizing festivals and performances for development of these folk songs.
