Bac Giang plants more than 1,300 hectares of concentrated forests

BAC GIANG - Carrying out the "Tree Planting Festival - Eternal gratitude to Uncle Ho" movement on the occasion of the 2024 New Year, the Year of the Dragon in associated with programme to grow one billion trees, so far, Bac Giang province has planted 1,303 hectares of concentrated forests (accounting for 16.3 percent of the plan, up 176 hectares compared to the same period in 2023) and more than one million scattered trees of all kinds (increasing over 500,000 trees against the figure in 2023).

The localities with big forest plantation are Son Dong district with 594.7 hectares of concentrated forest and nearly 500,000 scattered trees, Yen The district with 500 hectares of concentrated forest and 300,000 scattered trees, Luc Nam district with over 210 hectares of concentrated forest and over 98,000 scattered trees among others.

On this occasion, the competent agencies, organizations and localities have enhanced propaganda and education tasks to raise the awareness of the government at all levels, organizations, community and people about the role, effect and meaning of forest plantation; actively grown trees and followed legal regulation about forestation, helping protect the ecological environment, reduce the natural disasters and adapt to climate change.

This year, the province targets to grow 6.4 million scattered trees, 9,500 hectares of concentrated forest, plant large timber forests, convert small timber plantations to larger timber businesses of more than 1,600 hectares, maintain forest cover rate and improve the quality of planted forests.
