Bac Giang rolls out red carpet to welcome investors
Difficulties in site clearance
On December 7, 1999, the Prime Minister allowed Bac Giang province to make a plan for the construction of Dinh Tram Industrial Park, which covers an area of 101 hectares in Hong Thai and Hoang Ninh communes of Viet Yen district.

The site clearance for Dinh Tram IP and then Quang Chau and Van Trung IPs faced difficulties because earlier a business producing plant protection drugs based in Hoang Ninh commune (now Nenh township) had caused environmental pollution, prompting many residents to set up tents to protest.
Many officials were assigned to grasp the situation and persuade people to agree with the province’s solutions to environmental pollution and site clearance for construction of industrial zones.
The provincial authorities directed departments, agencies, and mass organizations to grasp the situation, organize dialogues, respond to locals’ petitions and set up working groups in charge of site clearance. Local people working in provincial and district level agencies and units were assigned to encourage their relatives to set examples in following the province's policies.
Industrial park creates historical hallmark
Now many people in Bac Giang province still remember the October 11, 2003 event that kicked off the construction of Dinh Tram Industrial Park – the first "red address" to attract investment in local industrial development. The IP was built at a cost of 210 billion VND (8.45 million USD), including 184 billion VND from the state budget and the rest contributed by enterprises.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, the provincial leaders sent a strong message to investors, affirming that Bac Giang always attaches importance to the role of businesses and entrepreneurs in economic development. The province sees the economic and business efficiency of enterprises as its own. The local leaders committed to sharing difficulties with businesses and staying ready to listen to them for their long-term development.
After starting the construction of Dinh Tram Industrial Park, the province also gave the green light to enterprises to invest in Dong Vang Auto Industrial Cluster with a capital of more than 4 trillion VND (161 million USD). At that time, Bac Giang expected that in the very near future, Dinh Tram Industrial Park, Dong Vang Auto Industrial Cluster and Song Khe - Noi Hoang Industrial Cluster (now Song Khe - Noi Hoang Industrial Park) nearby would form an large-scale industrial complex of the province.
With the province's investment incentives plus rapid site clearance and infrastructure construction, in a short time, Dinh Tram IP attracted 25 investors, surpassing the set plan. Among them were many large firms such as Hoa Ha Vietnam Co., Ltd., Phu Thinh Trading and Production Investment Co., Ltd., and Hoang Gia Food Joint Stock Company.
Over time, the number of enterprises investing in the industrial park has increased. By 2009 it was home to 141 secondary investment projects with a total investment capital of 386 million USD. On average, each investment project in Dinh Tram was valued at 2.75 million USD or 3.91 million USD per ha of industrial land. The industrial park created jobs for about 23,000 workers, including many locals.
Quang Chau and Van Trung IPs were also gradually formed also in Viet Yen district, welcoming investors. The province now has five industrial zones, creating a breakthrough for local growth and strongly shifting economic structure, gradually turning Bac Giang into a bright spot in investment attraction and industrial development in the whole country. .
