Bac Giang supervises Covid-19 prevention and control in quarantine areas to avoid spreading pathogens to community

Updated: 09:08, 29/10/2020
(BGO) - In recent days, Bac Giang province has continuously recorded imported Covid-19 cases, but all patients were put under medical monitoring right upon their arrival. The provincial Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control continues to direct the close control of the sources of infection from people entering the province from abroad to prevent pathogens from spreading to the community.

Health monitoring of people entering from abroad

According to information from the provincial Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control, in recent days, the province has reported 11 Covid-19 infections among those who were quarantined at Regiment 831.

People are put under quarantine at 831 Regiment.

Tu Quoc Hieu, Director of the provincial Department of Health and deputy head of the provincial Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control, said that anticipating the high risk of infection from people entering the locality from overseas, right on the first day of quarantine, all of them have their samples taken by the provincial Center for Disease Control for testing. While waiting for the results, people with signs of cough and fever were arranged in a separate room to avoid risks of infection.

Recently, among the people returning from Angola on flight VN8 which landed in Van Don International Airport (Quang Ninh province) quarantined at Regiment 831, seven were found positive for SASR-CoV-2. Right in the night, the patients, including an 8-month-old child, were taken to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi for treatment.

With such a strict approach, the province has not only detected and treated patients early and promptly, but also prevented the risk of spreading the virus to people in quarantine areas and, most importantly, in the community.

Currently, the province has 693 people under concentrated quarantine, including 257 Vietnamese and 436 Chinese. People entering Bac Giang for working are quarantined at seven locations in the province, namely the Center for National Defense and Security Education; the Centre for Vocational Training and Farmers Support (the provincial Farmers Association); Regiment 831; Ravatel Inn, Muong Thanh and Huong Sen Hotels (Bac Giang city) and Phu Han Dormitory (Viet Yen district).

Preventing risks of infection

In order to maintain the achievements in the epidemic prevention and control in the past period, creating a basis for promoting economic recovery and development and protection of people's health, the provincial Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control has urged every effort to be made to avoid any outbreak in quarantine areas, cross-infection among those on duty there and pathogen spreading to the community. The committee requested strictly checking certificates showing SASR-CoV-2 negative results before doing procedures for receiving entries to quarantine areas.

To prevent infection thoroughly, the management boards of the quarantine areas focus on treating wastewater and waste in accordance with the process of preventing infectious diseases set by the Ministry of Health by sorting waste and treating it in line with regulations. Domestic wastewater is sterilized by chemicals.

For people brought to quarantine areas after their entry, during the first days, health workers carefully monitor their health to promptly detect suspected manifestations. When discovering abnormal signs, they are arranged in a separate room. During the compulsory quarantine process, people entering the locality from abroad are required to have two screening tests paid by themselves.

It is a must to not let anyone leave the quarantine area without test results showing he/she is negative for SASR-CoV-2. Finishing the quarantine period, experts and technicians working in Bac Giang continue to be under medical monitoring for the next 14 days and take individual prevention measures.

Nguyen Dang So, Deputy Commander of the provincial Military Command, said the management boards of the quarantine areas have showed strict supervision. Those who are not on duty are not allowed to enter these areas and contact people being quarantined. At the same time, the quarantined people are not permitted to go outside.

Medical staff and servants in the quarantine areas always raise their awareness of disease prevention and control by wearing protective clothing and implementing self-quarantine regulations after fulfilling their tasks there.
